The Birth House

Community Clinic at Birthwise

 

The Birthwise Community Clinic is located in The Birth House, a free-standing birth center in Bridgton, Maine. The center is attached to Birthwise Midwifery School, an accredited institution where the clinic staff is enrolled. The home-like center includes clinic rooms, a waiting/classroom area, kitchenette, and birthing suite.

Students at the Birthwise Community Clinic offer free Well Body exams while being supervised by a Certified Professional Midwife.

 The following services are available:

  • Annual Well Body Exam

  • Breast Exams

  • Pap Smear

  • Nutritional Counseling

  • Family Planning Counseling

  • Fertility Awareness Education

  • Routine screening for STIs and GYN infections

Each service is provided at no cost to you except for lab fees. These are typically billed directly from the lab service and can be billed to MaineCare, NH Medicaid and most private health insurance plans. Call for an appointment.

Birthwise Midwifery School and Goddard College are pleased to announce a mutually beneficial learning partnership. The partnership offers Birthwise students an affordable, flexible, and fast pathway to a bachelor’s degree. Program options include the B.A. in Individualized Studies and the B.A. in Health Arts and Sciences

  • Connect with students, faculty and staff during an 8-day on-campus residency each semester.

This sixteen-hour, two-day workshop introduces students to the basic body of knowledge and skills of the professional birth doula.

Postpartum Doula Intensive

Date: August 21, 2016

Time: 8:00 AM - 7:00 PM

Location: Carriage House

The eleven-hour, one-day intensive in postpartum care qualifies participating doulas to offer postpartum care to mothers and babies, including emotional support and newborn care.

DONA International Birth Doula Workshop

Birthwise Open House

Date: November 7, 2016

Time: 8:30 AM - 2:00 PM

Location: Begins in the Birthwise Living Room

During the event, visitors will meet with Birthwise staff, faculty, and current students. Prospective students will learn more about midwifery as a profession, tour the Birthwise campus, and have the opportunity to experience life as a student by participating in a class.
