Birthwise Midwifery School is a three-year school founded in Bridgton, Maine in 1994. Built on the principles of female empowerment, natural birth, and skilled professionalism, it offers one of the first comprehensive training programs for direct-entry midwives in the United States. The program is accredited by the Midwifery Education Accreditation Council and licensed by the Maine Department of Education.
This is a hands-on class that will instruct on basic massage techniques for labor. Special focus will be on relaxation inducing touch and pain relieving techniques for back labor. For certified midwives, our electives count toward your NARM category two CEUs, but anyone can register and participate in class. Sign up here.

Birthwise’s freestanding birth center and free community clinic
Together, staff midwives and Birthwise Midwifery School students run The Birth House, an on-site clinic that offers free Well Woman and reproductive health services to the community’s women. Students may also assist women giving birth at the freestanding birth center.
